2021 marks the 11th year for us at UnderDeck Solutions. We are very happy to report that folks are still enjoying their added dry living space.
How did it all begin? Well, let me tell you.
Back in 2010 I was approached by a family member who asked me if I could close in the underside of their raised deck so they could utilize the area beneath. I said I could, but the first thing we would need to do is locate an under-deck water drainage system in order to divert any water resulting from the elements – i.e. rain and snow. As a licensed carpenter, with over 30 years of construction and renovation experience, closing in the underside of the deck was a simple task. What proved to be more challenging was the issue of water diversion. I assumed there would be many off-the-shelf products one could purchase from the local building supply store – not so. I was very surprised to find that there were no solutions in Canada – and only 1 or 2 in the US at the time. As summer was winding down, I abandoned my search for an off-the-shelf solution choosing instead to create my own. I am happy to report that my own design is working well to this day. I successfully transformed what was once a stained, cobweb infested area beneath the deck into fully functional dry space.
The fact that I could not locate an under deck water drainage system in Canada at the time got me to thinking that there must be people out there who would love to do as my brother did – transform the area beneath their deck into fully functional dry space; an area where they could use their hot tub and patio furniture without having it ruined by the elements.
And this is how UnderDeck Solutions came to be.
